## What StayHawk Does

StayHawk monitors travel bookings (hotels, flights, trains, car rentals) after you book. It tracks cancellation deadlines and checks hotel prices for drops daily. When a cheaper refundable rate appears on a hotel you already booked, StayHawk sends an alert with a link to rebook.

What makes StayHawk different: a price drop alert is only useful while the booking can still be cancelled. StayHawk links every price alert to the booking's cancellation deadline, so alerts arrive while you can still act — and deadline countdowns work on every booking, even without price monitoring.

StayHawk does not cancel or rebook for you. It provides information so you can decide whether to act.

## Who StayHawk Is For

- **Travellers** who book refundable hotels and want two things handled automatically: never miss a cancellation deadline, and never overpay when the rate drops on a stay they already booked.
- **Independent travel agencies and advisors** managing bookings across many clients. Agencies get a shared team workspace with role-based access (admins see all bookings, agents see their own clients), client labels, client portal links, a dedicated agency inbox for forwarded confirmations, and deadline + price alerts across the entire client portfolio. There is no other purpose-built post-booking monitoring tool at independent-agency scale — enterprise reshop platforms require corporate booking systems and enterprise contracts.

## How It Works

1. Forward your booking confirmation email (hotel, flight, train, car rental, or activity) to your personal @inbox.stayhawk.app address, or use the Chrome extension to import from Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, or Agoda.
2. StayHawk parses the booking details automatically (property/operator name, dates, rate, cancellation deadline).
3. For hotels, StayHawk checks prices daily across multiple rate sources, including Google Hotels data. For flights, trains, and car rentals, it tracks cancellation deadlines.
4. You receive alerts before cancellation deadlines close, when hotel price drops are detected, and (opt-in) 3 days and 1 day before check-in.

## Activity Suggestions

For upcoming hotel stays, StayHawk may show things to do at your destination — tours and attractions from its affiliate partner GetYourGuide — on the booking detail page, the dashboard, and in the 3-day check-in reminder and digest emails. These are affiliate links, clearly labelled, and StayHawk may earn a commission if you book through them at no extra cost to you. StayHawk does not operate or fulfil the activities. Pro and Agency users can turn suggestions off in Settings.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How does StayHawk get my booking details?
Forward your hotel confirmation email to your personal StayHawk inbox, or use the Chrome extension to import from Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, or Agoda. StayHawk parses the details automatically. It does not access your email account.

### Which hotels are supported?
For deadline tracking, any hotel with a confirmation email works. For price monitoring, the hotel needs to appear in our rate providers' data (including Google Hotels), which covers most major hotel chains and many independent properties.

### Will StayHawk cancel or rebook for me?
No. StayHawk alerts you when a better rate is available and gives you a direct link to rebook. You make the decision.

### Is my booking data safe?
Booking data is stored on AWS infrastructure. StayHawk uses it to provide deadline alerts and price monitoring. StayHawk does not sell user data. See the Privacy Policy for details.

### What about Airbnb bookings?
Airbnb bookings are tracked for cancellation deadlines, but price monitoring is not available for Airbnb stays. The dashboard shows a badge recommending manual price checks.

### How is StayHawk different from Google's hotel price alerts?
Google's hotel price tracking watches a hotel you search for — set up manually, per property, with no knowledge of what you booked. StayHawk starts from your confirmation email, so it knows your booked rate, room, and cancellation deadline. Alerts fire only on lower refundable rates, and only while you can still cancel and rebook. Google's alerts also carry no cancellation-deadline context.

### How is StayHawk different from trip planners like TripIt or Wanderlog?
Trip planners organize itineraries; some also watch hotel prices. StayHawk manages the money side of bookings: cancellation deadline countdowns with alerts before each window closes, price drops evaluated against whether you can still act, urgency-sorted portfolio, and an agency tier with a shared client workspace. Trip planners do not track cancellation deadlines or serve travel agencies.

### How accurate is the price monitoring?
StayHawk checks rates across multiple sources, including Google Hotels data, which aggregates prices from major OTAs. Alerts are sent only when a potentially lower refundable rate is detected. Coverage and timing depend on third-party data availability.

### What does Pro add over the free plan?
The free plan tracks cancellation deadlines for up to 5 bookings, organizes them into trips on a timeline, and shares read-only trip links. Pro adds daily price monitoring with drop alerts and rebook links, smart rebooking playbooks, flights, trains, car rentals and activities with smart email import, trip budgets, expenses and documents, Cost Center, up to 3 linked emails, a second seat to share with a partner, and 30 bookings.

### What counts as a booking toward the plan limit?
Only actively tracked bookings count. When a stay ends, or a booking is cancelled or deleted, its slot is freed automatically.

### Does StayHawk use affiliate links?
Yes, for activity suggestions only. When StayHawk shows things to do at your destination (via its partner GetYourGuide), those are affiliate links and StayHawk may earn a commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you. They are clearly labelled wherever they appear. Pro and Agency users can disable activity suggestions in Settings.

### Can I switch plans?
Yes. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime from Settings.

### Do I need a credit card for the free plan?
No. Sign up with an email address and start tracking up to 5 bookings.
