GetaHotelPriceDropAlertAfterYouBook

StayHawk checks your hotel rate daily and aims to alert you the moment a cheaper refundable rate appears on the same property. Price monitoring unlocks with the Pro plan.

Free plan covers cancellation deadlines. Hotel price drop alerts unlock with Pro.

The Concept

Your booked rate is rarely the final rate

A hotel price drop alert is a notification that fires when the rate on a property you have already booked falls below what you paid. Hotels reprice constantly — occupancy, weekday demand, competitor rates, and last-minute inventory all shift the price after you book.

StayHawk Pro watches daily for a cheaper refundable rate on the same property, room type, and dates. When one is detected, you get an alert with a ready-to-use rebooking playbook — not just a number. The Free plan covers cancellation deadlines; price monitoring requires Pro.

Refundable rates only. Non-refundable bookings do not receive price-drop alerts — we can’t help you rebook a rate you can’t cancel.

Smart Monitoring

A hotel price drop alert that comes with a rebooking plan

  • Daily rate checks via SerpApi, DataForSEO, and direct-chain data — the same providers that power Google Hotels
  • Three alert flavors: PRICE_DROP when your rate drops, CHEAPER_OPTION when a cheaper refundable rate appears on the same property, and CURRENCY_GAIN when your home currency strengthens against the booking
  • Built-in rebooking playbook — cancel-and-rebook timing checked against your deadline, savings math in your home currency, or claim a Marriott Best Rate Guarantee if the cheaper rate beats your existing Marriott booking
  • Email plus push delivery, typically firing within minutes of detection (timing varies by load)

Other trackers tell you the price changed. StayHawk tells you what to do next.

Step-by-Step

Setting up a hotel price drop alert in five steps

1

Forward your hotel confirmation email to your personal StayHawk inbox — Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Marriott, Hilton, and more are auto-detected

2

We extract the hotel, dates, room type, rate, currency, and cancellation policy from the email

3

Pro turns on daily price monitoring against SerpApi, DataForSEO, and direct-chain data for that booking

4

When a potentially cheaper refundable rate is detected on the same property, we aim to fire a PRICE_DROP or CHEAPER_OPTION alert by email and push

5

Open the alert, review the rebooking playbook, and decide whether to cancel-and-rebook, file a Best Rate Guarantee claim, or stay put

Doing it manually

You’d need to re-search your dates on every OTA and the hotel’s direct site, every day, then verify the room type and cancellation policy match. Most people don’t. Rate drops expire unnoticed.

With StayHawk Pro

Forward the confirmation once. We check daily, alert when a cheaper refundable rate is detected, and link you to the rebooking action with the savings math already done.

FAQ

Common questions about hotel price drop alerts

A hotel price drop alert is a notification that fires when the rate on a property you have already booked moves lower after you booked it. StayHawk monitors the same hotel, room type, and dates daily, and aims to send an alert by email and push when a potentially cheaper refundable rate is detected. The goal is to surface a rebooking opportunity before your free-cancellation window closes.
StayHawk Pro runs a price check on every eligible hotel booking once per day. Daily is the sweet spot between catching meaningful drops and respecting our SerpApi, DataForSEO, and direct-chain rate limits. We do not currently offer hourly or intraday hotel price drop alert checks.
StayHawk monitors 10+ booking platforms, including Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Agoda, Trip.com, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, and Accor. Airbnb and Vrbo are deadlines-only because vacation-rental listings do not have a comparable public rate feed. We auto-detect the platform from your forwarded confirmation email.
No. StayHawk only fires hotel price drop alerts on refundable rates. If your booking is non-refundable, rebooking at a lower rate would forfeit your original payment, so an alert wouldn't help. We extract the cancellation policy from your confirmation email and skip price monitoring on non-refundable reservations.
Hotel price drop alerts require the Pro plan. The Free plan covers cancellation deadline tracking on up to 5 bookings, which is useful on its own, but daily price monitoring across SerpApi, DataForSEO, and direct-chain data is a Pro feature. You can upgrade at any time and downgrade whenever you want.
When StayHawk detects that your hotel rate dropped after you booked, we send an alert with a rebooking playbook. The playbook ranks your options: file a Best Rate Guarantee claim if the chain supports it (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG), cancel and rebook within your free-cancellation window, or wait if the timing doesn't work. The savings math is already done in your home currency.
StayHawk aims to detect cheaper refundable rates available at time of check, but does not guarantee any specific outcome. Price monitoring depends on SerpApi, DataForSEO, and direct-chain data feeds; rates can change between detection and the moment you click rebook. Savings estimates are illustrative and depend on hotel pricing, availability, and your actions.
Sign up, forward a hotel confirmation email to your personal StayHawk inbox, and upgrade to Pro to turn on price monitoring. We extract the booking details automatically, and the first daily price check typically runs within hours (timing depends on when your booking is processed). You don't need to install anything, connect any hotel accounts, or configure alerts manually.

Savings estimates are illustrative and depend on availability, hotel pricing, and your actions. StayHawk aims to detect cheaper refundable rates available at time of check, but does not guarantee any specific outcome. Alert delivery is approximate and depends on email and push processing.

Stop checking. Start tracking.

Forward your next hotel confirmation to StayHawk. If the rate drops, we aim to surface it — and tell you exactly how to act on it.
